Robert Bright

Robert Bright has worked in the energy field for over twenty-five years, specializing in electric utility rate and planning analyses and in the economics of alternative electric generating technologies. In recent years, his work has focused on the retail power industry particularly with respect to pricing strategies, margin analyses, and billing systems.

He has consulted for electric utilities, developers of cogeneration and resource recovery projects, state governments, and national laboratories. He has prepared testimony in rate cases and advised state governments on rate and planning issues. Mr. Bright has developed computer models for electric utility planning, marginal cost calculations, and investment analyses for utilities and public service commissions; prepared rate forecasts; performed electric utility planning studies; and directed a study of the effect of photovoltaic systems on electric utilities. Earlier in his professional career, he had over eight years experience as an analyst of transportation systems and energy systems while working for the Virginia Department of Transportation, and Argonne and Brookhaven National Laboratories.

Mr. Bright has a B.S. from Duke University and an M.S. in mechanical engineering from the University of Michigan
