Harry Davitian, President

Harry Davitian has had over thirty years of experience in the energy field, primarily in the independent power industry. He founded Entek Power Services in 1980 and served as a consultant to financial institutions, independent power producers, electric and gas utilities, public service commissions, national laboratories, trade associations, and local governments. During the early 1990's, he served as an advisor to the Ministry of Energy and Fuel of the Republic of Armenia on matters related to the financing of new power generating facilities, the privatization of the power sector, and the planning and renovation of energy facilities. In the mid 1990’s, he directed regional business development activities for a leading retail electric marketer.

Starting in the late 1980’s Mr. Davitian has served as a principal in several power development companies developing combined cycle, hydroelectric and wind power projects. Currently, he devotes his time to the development of new conventional and renewable power projects. Mr. Davitian initiated and worked with Caithness Energy on a 350 MW combined-cycle generating facility, the first major baseload power plant to be constructed on Long Island in thirty years. He also initiated a 350 MW solar photovoltaic power generating facility to be located in the Mojave Desert in southern California which is currently under development.

Mr. Davitian serves on the Board of the Long Island Association and is Chair of the Association’s Energy/Environment committee. He also serves on the Board the Long Island Chapter of the New York League of Conservation Voters. He is past President of the Tri-State Energy Association and he was a founder of and served for ten years on the Board of the Independent Power Producers of New York. He has also served on the Stony Brook University Hospital Quality Assessment Review Board and chaired the Board’s Strategic Options Committee.

Mr. Davitian holds a BS from MIT and a Ph.D. in Applied Physics from Cornell University.

F. Carlene Bryant, Vice president

Carlene Bryant, Vice President of Entek, specializes in the social impacts of energy. She has researched the social impacts of surface mining in Appalachia, the politics of nuclear power, the application of decision theories and methods to Nuclear Regulatory Commission procedures, and the regional institutional barriers to the implementation of energy conservation measures. Ms. Bryant has also examined tax issues associated with privately owned cogeneration systems.

She is the author of a book on social organization in Appalachia.

Ms. Bryant holds an A.B. degree from the University of Chicago and a Ph.D. in anthropology from Cornell University.
